Effective RTLB practice in rural contexts begins well before the casework starts. This webinar explores the importance of understanding school profiles, strategic priorities, and the community context as part of mahi before the mahi (He Urunga Tū). We'll unpack how to clear the pathway for effective RTLB practice through strong liaison processes, clear expectations, and practical use of the He Pikorua framework. The session will also reflect on the human side of the work—building trust, working flexibly within school realities, and sustaining relationships that enable RTLB to act as critical friends. Consideration will also be given to cluster approaches, rural isolation, and ensuring sustainable handover within the rural scope of RTLB practice.
