Reflections from Shelley Moore’s Session!
Thank you to those of you who attended Shelley Moore’s session this morning. It was brilliant! What were your key takeaways? Mine was: Challenge assumptions, there is no “should.” Rethink what’s expected and explore new possibilities.

I tautoko what Georgia said - my key takeaways were about kaiako evaluating the goal instead of the task (i.e. how the goal is demonstrated) - this is vital to inclusion!
I also love her take on School Leadership teams - they need really clear boundaries around inclusion, they need to hold those expectations of their kaiako with the infrastructure in place supporting inclusion in every way (a couple of examples she gave were 'time for kaiako to work together and plan' and 'plans in place for supporting e.g. teacher crisis times).
Also the importance of connection - SLT's connecting with mokopuna and kaiako as well as connecting with the whole community to build that sense of "this is what we are all doing together". Sorry - so many takeaways - I loved listening to Shelley!!
