Kia ora koutou
I am seeking some suggestions please. Are there any secondary schools out there who have efficient and proactive systems in the Pastoral space that you may be willing to share and discuss? Deans (Kaitiaki), often have such heavy teaching loads and need all the support they can get, especially in supporting diverse learners and the complex needs that many of these learners have.
One of my liaison schools has asked for support with looking at ways to streamline processes and to make sure that the right information is easily accessible and that essential information is communicated effectively. (School use Kamar). The school have some really robust processes in place, particularly around transitions from year to year and coming into year 9, but not so much when ākonga arrive during the year.
We are using an Appreciative Inquiry process to review what is going well and I am just keen to hear your ideas and suggestions of ways I might be able to support the kura on this journey. I am keen to hear about ways information is collected, tracked and shared, how roles are clarified etc
I look forward to hearing from you all!

Tēnā koe Justine,
Such a great question. We aren't there yet but are having very similar discussions as see exactly the same need. One of our high schools has put in a lot of work to develop good LS systems and tracking however the gap at the moment is that the Deans, as you note, are struggling with the level of needs. Our PLN survey has shown that there is a lot of interest from RTLB for support with regards to RTLB mahi with secondary schools.
Ngā mihi nui,
