ERO's Ready or Not: How are our schools responding to Artificial Intelligence? was released on Thursday 30 July, the largest study of AI in New Zealand education to date, with 3,807 survey responses (1,587 students, 859 teachers, 472 school leaders, 889 parents and whānau), alongside focus groups, expert interviews, and case study schools. For comparison, NZCER's Years 5–8 snapshot last year drew on 266 teachers.
Members of this community were part of that evidence base and the AiEdCoP is named in Part 1 of the report as the sector-led community of practice that has emerged to provide grounded, experience-based guidance on AI in schools.
In this online AiEdCoP event, Juvena Jalal (Senior Manager at Te Ihuwaka | Education Evaluation Centre, ERO) and Schyana Sivanantham (Senior Evaluator, Te Ihuwaka | Education Evaluation Centre, ERO) return to share the published findings. When Juvena joined us (EPIT: AIED COP) in February she introduced the project and asked for our input.
